My life as a dedicated painter began thirty years ago, and I’m thrilled to say I continue with the same wonder and excitement as when I began. I have a BFA from the University of Michigan, where I developed my foundational skills for painting. My professional education came through study at the New York Academy of Fine Art, SVA, the Art Students League, and through these many wonderful years of work. I also give credit to studying with my friend and master painter, Ricky Mujica, as well as to Antrese Wood and her inspired tutelage.
I’ve performed live paintings as the resident artist for Montclair Story Salon. There I painted live alongside storytellers and musicians to benefit places like the Montclair Art Museum, Howe House and VanVleck gardens.
While some of my work from the old days remains in clubs, restaurants, and public spaces around NYC, I now focus on painting and drawing in my Gowanus studio. Recent public exhibitions have been with Montclair State University’s Lab Studio where I showed my “Gray” series, the ‘Bid Windows’ show which was also in Montclair, and a show at the fabulous Papermill Playhouse where my “Legendary Women” series were shown. Most recently the “Night Series” was exhibited at Pictor Galley in Chelsea. You can find me working at my studio in Brooklyn experimenting with new series and techniques.
